About This Series
Too Sinful For Church?

Some of us stay away from church because we think we do not belong. We have made mistakes that make us question if we could ever be accepted by God. But the message of Christianity turns this on its head: the church is not for the perfect but for those who know they need help. Discover what it truly means to be a Christian!

DISCUSSION QUESTIONS

We often think being chosen—whether by others or by God—means meeting a certain standard and being worthy. But what if the ones who feel unnoticed or not good enough are the very ones God chooses? If you have ever felt like your flaws or mistakes disqualify you, this message will challenge everything you thought about what it means to be chosen by God.

1. Have you ever felt like your mistakes or failures make you undeserving of God’s love? What does it mean to you that God chooses people because of his grace, not their performance?

2. Think about times when you’ve been critical of others who seem unworthy or flawed. How does recognising that God extended love to you, despite your flaws and failures, challenge the way you view and respond to others who don’t meet your standards?

3. Have you ever found yourself becoming complacent about God’s grace because you’ve been a Christian for a long time? How can you remind yourself of the significance of his grace in your daily life?

DISCUSSION QUESTIONS

Nobody likes to talk about sin or be told something is wrong with them. But the Bible says sin is more than just a mistake—it puts us in a position we cannot fix. Before we can talk about salvation, we need to confront what we need saving from. Is there any way out for us?

1. Share a personal experience of someone owing you money but never repaying it. How did it make you feel? How did it affect your relationship with that person?

2. Christ paid a debt he did not owe because you owed a debt you could never pay. Do you live your faith as a response to being released from a debt you could never repay, or as a transaction to get what you want from God?

3. Think of someone you struggle to forgive. Why is it so difficult? How does understanding how much God has forgiven you change the way you treat those you find hard to forgive?

DISCUSSION QUESTIONS

If Christians still sin, what makes them any different? If God transforms people, why do they still fail? Many expect the Christian faith to produce instant change, but the reality is far from ideal. Is Christianity just another label, or does it actually make a difference?

1. How has God changed you since becoming a Christian, and how does knowing that he is still at work in you help when you feel out of place in church or compare yourself to other Christians?

2. How do you usually respond when you recognise sin in your life—do you rationalise it, ignore it, or feel overwhelmed by guilt? How does knowing that Jesus intercedes for you change the way you approach confession and repentance?

3. In what practical ways can your cell group support you in pursuing holiness, and how can you be intentional in being set apart from sin and set apart for God?
