Over time, it is easy for Christians to lose their spiritual passion and become more conformed to the world than to Christ. We are all prone to spiritual drift and compromise. That is why in this series, we will look at how we can recover our spiritual passion and pursue God wholeheartedly through the different seasons of life.
Human beings are created for relationship. We seek physical intimacy, emotional intimacy, and beneath these, there is often a deeper longing—a desire for spiritual intimacy with the One who made us. Yet many believers know the experience of feeling distant from God, longing for greater closeness but unsure why it feels lacking.
As we turn to our passage today, we will consider why this longing remains and how we can cultivate a deeper intimacy with God our Creator.
1. In one word, describe your current sense of spiritual intimacy with God. As you seek to live as a “good Christian,” how do you usually respond to or manage that distance?
2. In 2–3 words, name an area of Spiritual Intimacy where you want to see growth in right now — clean hands, pure heart, or undivided worship. Share one small step you would like the CG to help keep you accountable in.
3. Psalm 24 ends with the King drawing near to His people. In 2–3 words, describe how that truth makes you feel, and share why you feel that way.
